Hire Me!

Hi, I'm Julian. I build web and mobile apps end to end, from the database to the details users touch. After five years in agency work, I'm looking for a product team to join and help build things people love to use.

A few words about me

I trained as a software developer through Germany's Duale Ausbildung, a state-recognized qualification that combines vocational school with full-time work at a company. I did mine at farbcode, a web agency in Stuttgart, from 2021 to 2024, and stayed on as developer and project manager until the end of September this year. That meant leading small teams through lots of client projects, from the first call to launch and beyond.

You might have run into me at Laracon EU, ViteConf, or a few smaller meetups.

Some things I've worked on

Although I can't share exact details of my professional work, here are some of the projects I'm most proud of:

  • A SaaS platform that turned a hardware product into a subscription business. Hardware buzzers connected over MQTT, with team goals, leaderboards, dashboards, and notifications to Teams, Telegram, email, and push. I built the device API and the real-time backend, working closely with the client's hardware team.
  • An offline-first mobile app for sensitive health data. Staff on youth trips get encrypted access to allergies, emergency contacts, and permissions, even without signal, with time-limited access and full audit logs. I built the mobile app, plus the API, offline sync, and encryption behind it.
  • A statewide government portal that replaced a paper process between applicants, employers, organizers, and authorities with one shared digital case, signed in through an existing identity system.
  • A public visualization of a green energy district, showing how solar power, heating, and hydrogen production work together, made for residents rather than engineers.

On my own time, I've been building side projects for years, using a variety of technologies. You can check them out on my projects page.

Open source

I also build open source tools for other developers. It's the easiest way to see how I write code.

Package installs
30k+
GitHub stars
220+
Merged upstream PRs
40+

Beyond my own packages, I love contributing to other open source projects, and I've had pull requests merged into ones like shadcn-vue, Laravel's starter kits, and the Laravel VS Code extension.

What I work with

These are the tools I know best:

Backend

  • Laravel
  • PHP
  • PestPHP
  • MySQL
  • Postgres
  • SQLite
  • Redis
  • MQTT

Frontend

  • Vue
  • Nuxt
  • React
  • Inertia
  • TypeScript
  • Tailwind CSS
  • Vite
  • Three.js

Mobile

  • React Native
  • Expo
  • Capacitor

Infrastructure

  • Docker
  • Laravel Forge
  • GitHub Actions
  • Linux
  • Cloudflare
  • AWS

AI

  • Claude
  • OpenAI
  • OpenRouter
  • OpenCode
  • Laravel AI SDK

Tinkering with

  • SwiftUI
  • NativePHP
  • Tauri
  • Rust
  • Go

That said, I don't choose tools for their own sake. I choose whatever gets the product where it needs to be. If your stack looks different, I'll get up to speed fast.

Why me?

If you're looking for a developer who...

  • cares how things feel to use. This website and its radio are where I get to show it.
  • goes just as deep on the backend. I've set up Redis queues with Horizon, run servers both self-hosted and on Forge, and tracked down N+1 queries, missing indexes, and slow requests across projects.
  • gets handed the hard bugs and the tricky decisions. Debugging stubborn issues across the stack and advising on technical choices is what colleagues came to me for most.
  • owns what they ship. For my professional projects, I watched the monitoring and alerts, dug through logs and server metrics, and fixed production issues without breaking things.
  • knows how to work with AI agents. I ran an AI workshop for the farbcode team, set up agent guidelines and custom skills in our projects, and kept everyone up to date on what's new. I also wrote about how I build with them.
  • ships from idea to production, on web and mobile, and can lead a small team while doing it.

...we should talk.

What I'm looking for

I'm looking for a full-time role at a product-focused company, and I can start right away. I'm happiest owning features across the whole stack, and I'm up for joining early or leading a small team. Scale-ups and dev tools companies feel like the best fit, but I'm open to anything interesting.

I do my best work in small(ish) teams with flat hierarchies, little process overhead, and people who genuinely like working together.

I'm able to work remotely from Germany or in-person in and around the Heilbronn/Stuttgart area (or a combination of both).

Let's talk

If this sounds like a fit for your team, email me at hireme@julian.center or send me a DM on X. My code is on GitHub, and I'm happy to send a full CV if you need one.
